New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is also known as New York Tech. It is a private research university with an emphasis on technology and applied scientific research. The institute provides career-oriented professional education.

It was founded in the year 1955; exactly 66 years. It has its campus standing firm on 1050 acres in New York; one of the most populous cities in the United States of America. Its two main campuses are situated in Old Westbury on Long Island and Manhattan.

It is one of the few private schools in New York with low tuition. Regardless of the low tuition, it still provides quality education. The institute’s admission is selective with an acceptance rate of  67.8%- 70%. In essence, if 1000 students apply for admission to the institute, only about 700 would be selected.

The institute currently has about 8000 students from 76 countries and 40 states.

New York Tech GPA requirements

For your application to be considered, you need to aim for a 3.2- 3.7 Grade Point Average (GPA) GPA

Although the institute may consider you if you finished secondary school with at least a B average or a 3.00-grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale.

New York Institute of Technology SAT/ACT requirements

You can apply as a test-optional prospective student. That means you don’t want to submit your SAT/ACT scores as a prerequisite for admission. If that is the case, you can allow the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) to pick the testing plan that will benefit you.

However, admitted students who opted to use their scores scored 1168 for SAT and 25 for the ACT. You should aim for 1270 for SAT (Reading and writing/Math)  and 28 for ACT

Admission Requirements at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT)

NYIT Admission requirements for first-year students

You are to pay an application fee. It is $50 and it is not refundable.

You have the option to submit your testing preference as a first year applicant. You can submit your application without standardized test scores. This doesn’t hinder your admission into the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). Your submitted school records, essays and recommendations will be thoroughly evaluated.

Kindly note the following:

Are you opting for a test-optional admission? then you have the chance to choose what you prefer when submitting the Common Application. But, it is mandatory that you submit two letters of recommendation. You may also be required to tender a graded essay from any class. If you are an international student, you will be required to submit more than one essay on time without a graded essay in English.

If you want to submit your official test scores, it must be submitted before the start of your first semester. Your application will be reviewed with self-reported test scores, and it may be used as a basis for admission. The New York Institute Technology (NYIT) code for SAT is 2561 while that of ACT is 2832.

Requirement of your transcripts will be made. Your transcripts are to be submitted via one of these several electronic transcripts networks: National Student Clearinghouse, Scoir, Parchment Exchange and eSCRIP-SAFE.  Your school may also send it directly to NYIT email- admissions@nyit.edu . Kindly note; it would take the Admissions Office about 2-4 weeks to process all your supporting materials.

You are to make submission of copies of transcripts of your high school, transcripts for any college-level coursework, AP, IB, and A-Level test scores. You are also to submit your mid-year and final grades, and proof of high school graduation. These should be submitted to the admissions office before you commence your first semester at the institute.

You must have satisfactorily concluded your secondary school with at least a B average or a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale.

You are not required to submit your SAT or ACT scores. But, you will be required to submit test scores for Nursing, B.S.

If you were not educated or live in one of the following countries: Anguilla, Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec/Montreal), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Greenland, Guyana, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, South Africa, Tobago, Trinidad, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom, and US Virgin Islands, you are expected to submit your TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or IB test scores.
