The Chinese army recruitment is now extending conscription from once a year to twice a year and for the first half of 2023 will start on Feb 15 and end on March 31, according to a teleconference on China’s conscription work in Beijing Thursday.
Recruitment for the second half of the year will run from Aug 15 to Sept 30, said an order issued by the State Council and the Central Military Commission, which was read out at the teleconference.

The Chinese army is known as the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and is the armed forces of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the armed wing of the PRC’s founding and ruling political party, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The PLA has five major service branches: the Ground Force (PLAGF), Navy (PLAN), Air Force (PLAAF), Rocket Force (PLARF), and the Strategic Support Force (PLASSF).

Requirement For The Chinese Army
- You must join the Chinese army between the age of 18 and 25 years
- Before you can join the PLA, you must be a Chinese citizen, excluding citizens from Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan.
- Technically you can join PLA if you possess Chinese citizenship.
- The middle school graduates who want to join ground crew forces are required to have a vision level no lower than 4.8/4.9
- while high school graduates are pegged at 4.5/4.7, and college students at 4.5/4.6.
- The height requirement for men will be at least 160cm, and women, at least 158cm.
- In order to gain Chinese citizenship, you have to FIRST gain your Foreigner’s Certificate for Permanent Residence in the PRC ( also known as a Chinese green card).
To be qualified for the certificate of Chinese citizenship you must either:
- Hold a relatively high-level post in China
- Have direct and stable investment in China
- Have made some big/important contributions to China or be the kind of professionals that China needs desperately
- Be a spouse or unmarried child under 18 of the ones that meet at least one of the 3 above requirements
- Be a spouse of a Chinese citizen
- Be an unmarried child under 18 whose parents are Chinese citizens
- Be over 60 years old and have direct relatives in China and none outside China
- And you must have no criminal records.
The Recruitment Process For The Chinese Army
The recruitment includes procedures of signing up, physical examination and political assessment. Family members of martyrs and soldiers would be given priority.
