To join the Army, you need to meet a set of basic requirements. These include telling them about your age, nationality, health and fitness. They will also ask you about your education and qualifications, but this article will help to find the right role for you. You can still join the Army if you have no formal qualifications.

About British Army

The British Military (which the British Army is a part of) has continued the historic of recruiting soldier who is not British citizens into it military.

In 1989 previous restrictions on the recruitment of Commonwealth nationals within the British military were raised, following recruiting difficulties amongst British nationals.

From 2013, all Commonwealth countries nationals aside from those from Cyprus, the Republic of Ireland (not a member of the commonwealth) and Malta should have resided for five years within Britain before being allowed to enlist.

British Army Online Application Process

Whether you are joining as a soldier or an officer, full time or as a part time Reservist, joining the Army starts with an online application.

Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll be guided through the process by a Recruiter or Candidate Support Manager. Find out more about the joining process.

Step 1: Apply Online or Contact your local Armed Forces Careers Officer (AFCO)

The British Army Application Portal is https://apply.army.mod.uk/login.

When you apply, let them know that you are applying, then provide them with information on the under listed.

  1. Name and title;
  2. Marital status;
  3. Your current address;
  4. Phone number;
  5. Residency info – whether you have the right to live in the UK or Ireland, and how long you have lived in the UK or Ireland;
  6. Nationality;
  7. Ethnic background;
  8. Religion (or lack thereof);
  9. Info on tattoos and piercings;
  10. Whether you have been under a care order at any point;
  11. Employment or education status;
  12. Any additional info you believe to be relevant.
